National Grid brings live 150-MW solar park to supply Hershey’s

National Grid Renewables has launched commercial operations at its 150-MW Copperhead solar park and its integrated battery storage system in the state of Texas.

The US onshore renewables business of British energy transmission and distribution company National Grid plc (LON:NG) announced the milestone on Thursday.

Located in Texas’ Falls County, within the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) market, the photovoltaic (PV) park covers 1,600 acres of land and is equipped with First Solar’s Series 6 thin-film PV modules. In October 2022, chocolate producer Hershey Co, better known as Hershey’s, signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with National Grid, committing to buying electricity from 140 MW of the plant’s installed capacity.
