Italian independent power producer ERG SpA (BIT:ERG) has secured approval from the European Commission (EC) to acquire a majority stake in a 317-MW wind and solar farm portfolio in the United States in its first investment across the pond.
The EC said on Thursday that the transaction, which is to see ERG acquire a 75% stake in the portfolio from US renewables developer Apex Clean Energy, “would not raise competition concerns, given the limited impact on the European Economic Area”.
