At a campaign rally in Iowa, President Trump indicated that he intends to support requiring a blend of 15% ethanol in the U.S. gasoline supply. The location was apt, since the only rationale for such a move is naked pandering that would make a carnival barker blush. It’s roughly the same as if he went to Maine and promised that the government would require all hamburgers to contain 15% lobster meat.
