Shell has decided to permanently close its entire hydrogen refueling network in California for light-duty vehicles.
According to a report by Hydrogen Insight, the mobility company has pointed out “supply complications and other external market factors,” as the main reasons behind this decision. Only three hydrogen refueling stations (HRS) will remain, which only cater to heavy-duty vehicles.
Shell will focus its H2 efforts on decarbonizing the heavy-duty sector, while electric vehicles (EV) will encompass its alternative fuels strategy for light-duty vehicles.
