New York Makes Progress in Offshore Wind Development

The U.S. Department of Interior Bureau of Land Management (BLM) recently selected the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) to compete for the right to developa new wind energy project off the coast of Long Island.

The 79,000-acre project site is about 12 miles south of Long Island, off the Rockaway Peninsula. A developer will be selected through a lease auction on Dec. 15 that will be administered by BLM.
