Gas, renewables and nuclear carry the day in Ameren’s long-term resource plan

St. Louis-based utility Ameren Corp. plans to cut carbon emissions from its generation fleet 80 percent by 2050 and, more immediately, add 700 MW of wind energy within two years.

The company’s newest Integrated Resource Plan ups the ante over a previous version, more than doubling the carbon reduction efforts in alignment with global climate change goals. Ameren also plans to invest $1 billion in wind projects through 2020.
