Reliable Nuclear Plants Help Nation Cope With July Heat Wave

A high-pressure zone, or “heat dome,” covered a substantial portion of the United States last week, exacerbating an intense heat wave from California to Maine that bypassed only the upper Northwest.

As they have in past incidences of extreme cold and heat, America’s nuclear power plants showed their usual resilience in maintaining high capacity and output throughout the sticky summer onslaught.
