Solar energy is a clean and environmentally friendly source of energy. It can also help in reducing the global carbon footprint and mitigating the impacts of climate change.
Due to the positive aspects of solar energy, its demand is growing exponentially. As of June 30, 2023, installed solar capacity in India was 70,096.83 MW, which constitutes about 16.1% of the total installed generation capacity in India, which includes both fossil fuel and non-fossil-fuel-based power plants (Table 1).
