At the December 19 Democratic presidential debate, leaders in the oil and gas industry were given a wake-up call by former Vice President Joe Biden, widely considered to be the most “moderate” and “electable” of the current slate of candidates. During that debate, Biden – currently the leader in the national polls – gave the following answer when one of the moderators, Politico’s Tim Alberta, asked if he would be willing to sacrifice “hundreds of thousands” of oil and gas jobs in his efforts to adapt portions of Alexandria Ocasio Cortez’s “Green New Deal” proposal:
