$35 million floating wind project gets green light

A 31 million euro ($35.32 million) floating wind project off the west coast of Ireland has been granted approval.

In an announcement Wednesday, the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) said that plans were in place for the deployment and testing of a “full-scale floating wind turbine.” The turbine will be located at a Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) test site near the town of Belmullet, County Mayo, by 2022.
