Senate Explores Future of Nuclear Energy

Nuclear energy addresses the threat of climate change and should be recognized in federal, state and regional carbon reduction policies. Every speaker on either side of the dais at a Senate appropriations subcommittee hearing on the future of nuclear energy agreed to some extent with that premise.

Nuclear energy’s many other positive attributes also found favor during the Appropriations Committee’s Energy and Water Subcommittee hearing. Former Sen. Judd Gregg (R-N.H.), representing the nuclear energy industry’s Nuclear Matters advocacy campaign, enumerated the qualities of nuclear energy beyond its ability to mitigate climate change risks.
