The concept of using a pipeline to transport oil and gas isn’t complex. It’s not much different to the pipes that carry water from household to household. And for decades the oil and gas industry has used pipelines to transport fossil fuels. However, no form of transportation comes without risks – within or outside one’s control. Most of us who have witnessed a leaking water pipe can relate. Though when dealing with the hazardous chemicals found in oil and gas, the consequences of a pipeline leak are much greater than simply cleaning up a pool of water.
