Covid19 has now graduated from a concern to a pandemic, regardless of whether it is officially declared so. (Although it might have been by the time you read this.) It appears highly likely that the effect on the economy is not going to be a simple blip and the oil price response, arguably delayed, reflects this. Pundits will play down abrupt moves, and the industry itself will try to argue that the problem will be transient (which it will).
