Financial markets are being roiled by the collapse of the Turkish Lira, as President Erdogan does his impression of King Canute, trying to hold back a tide of bearish sentiment. Unfortunately for him, global markets are no more obedient than the tide was for Canute (aka Knut), and the lira has dropped 40% so far this year against the U.S. dollar, creating serious fears about the broader economic impact.
