More Information Sought on Proposed Rhode Island Gas Plant

The Rhode Island Energy Facility Sitting Board voted Monday to order Invenergy to provide more information on a proposed 900-MW gas-fired power plant in Burrillville, Rhode Island.

The Associated Press reported the board is requiring Invenergy to explain why the proceedings on the Clear River Energy Center shouldn’t be suspended.

Todd Bianco, spokesman of the board, said Invenergy failed to provide a cooling water source for the plant after Pascoag Utility District rescinded permission to use the proposed water supply for the $700 million plant.
