House Passes Bill Extending Nuclear Energy Tax Credit

June 22, 2017

The full U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill that would extend a nuclear energy tax credit by a voice vote, The Hill reported.

The bill, put forward by the House Ways and Means Committee earlier this month, lifts the deadline of the end of 2020 for new nuclear facilities to receive a 1.8 cent per KWh tax credit.

It also allows government-owned utilities and nonprofit electric co-ops to receive the credit and transfer them to other partners in the development of new facilities.
